MAS is moving into India (i.e. exactly to Nellore) as the largest port in south Asia is about to come up here. MAS allocated a land area of 750 acres for this purpose. This land was not just for MAS factories however to develop it as an industrial park with all required facilities so that other investors would come for it. The initial development in this park was to put up a training center which the Engineers thought would be a good location to install skylights as apparel manufacturing is another field which requires a lot of lighting. Buyers guidelines are that there should be a light level of at least 1000 lux at the needle and an average light level of 400-500 lux for the production floor.
Lighting required at the needle point is provided through task lamps whereas the production floor lighting is where skylights come in. Hence skylights were installed in this facility and it was a great success.
